With their photographs, Robert and Maurice Antony documented the destruction and reconstruction of Ypres and the surrounding area: the clearing of the battlefields, the provisional cemeteries, the return of the inhabitants, the emergency housing, front tourism, the reconstruction of towns and villages, the many commemorations and the inaugurations of cemeteries and monuments.

Although the photos of the Antony brothers were often intended to be sold as souvenirs or picture postcards, they testify to an exceptional artistic quality and are of inestimable documentary value. The book Ypres. War and Reconstruction. A photographic account by Maurice and Robert Antony shows their collection, introduced by Piet Chielens, Dominiek Dendooven and Jan Dewilde.
