More info

Dutch medical historian Leo van Bergen selected seventeen English speaking women who wrote poetry about their work in First World War hospitals. He selected forty poems and a cycle of sonnets and translated them into Dutch. A century later they still read as if they were written yesterday. Silent, screaming witnesses of a time that offered chances, defined boundaries, aroused horror.

The book contains both the Dutch and English versions of the poems.
