School visit

"when will we ever learn..."

Pete Seeger

---

Wars never stand on their own.
They seem to possess tentacles
that grow almost imperceptibly,
until they get along elsewhere
and fire again into new conflicts.

We can't afford to be blind
for the forces that a hundred years ago
triggered the machinery of fate.
By doing so, we would be denying ourselves the possibility
to discover patterns in the past
that can help us learn lessons
for the present and the future.

educational program

To enhance your visit to the museum, the educational team offers numerous activities according to the age of your group.

aged 10 - 12 >

aged 13 - 15 >

aged 16 - 18 >

The offer provides opportunities to prepare your museum visit in class, or to look back on it afterwards. You can enhance your visit with activities inside and outside the museum. With an educational workshop, a town walk, or a guided bicycle or bus tour (with your own bikes or bus) you can elaborate a full day trip into the Ypres area.

You can book the chosen activities together with your group visit, at least two weeks before your visit.

educational service & peace service

The educational department of the In Flanders Fields Museum and the Ypres' city department of peace constantly keep a qualitative finger on the pulse. Workshops are fine-tuned, tours redesigned or themed. If you would like to be kept informed of new possibilities or temporary offers, write your name down in the address book.

In addition, the educational services are there to listen to you if you want to set up your own remembrance and/or peace education project, also across language or country borders.

Do you have an idea about a possible trip, or would you rather work on a theme that was dealt with at school during your visit? Then don't hesitate to contact us: we will be happy to work out an adapted programme in consultation with you.
